How to remove oil stains

Staining clothes with oil can happen to anyone, at work or in the kitchen. Simply stated, oil stains are more common than you think and can often be a problem. The first tip is to place absorbent paper as soon as possible onto the stain (in order to absorb the grease).

Some tips

  • For more delicate garments, you should spread some talcum powder over the stain and leave it overnight, so that the powder can absorb as much grease as possible. The next day, brush off the powder, apply a few drops of detergent and rub it in, then wash the garment in the washing machine.
  • Alternatively, spray some simple hairspray onto the oily stain, leave on for a few minutes, then wash in the washing machine.
  • The most classic method is to spray the degreaser directly onto the stain (a degreaser commonly found on the market). Leave it to act for a few seconds, then pour boiling water over it; repeat the procedure a couple of times.
